Paolo Rotondo and Renee Mark talk about setting up Cinema Italiano Festival in New Zealand in 2015. Paolo's mother, a New Zealander, met and married his Italian father in Italy. The couple had two children and lived in Naples for 20 years but the family’s high-profile status (Paolo's father was from an aristocratic Neapolitan family) combined with agitation over mafia kidnappings spurred a decision to emigrate to his mother’s country. Paolo was 11 years old then and in the article he talks about the difficulties with the language, culture (he had frittata in his lunchbox) and having to go to the health food shop to buy olive oil. Paolo and Renee met while working on a television show called Here To Stay about Italian immigrants in New Zealand.
