Dick Scott's historic masterpiece Winemakers of New Zealand (1964) was revived in 2002 as Pioneers of New Zealand Wine with the addition of black and white photographs by Marti Friedlander. Telling the stories of the people from every wine country in Europe who made the wine industry of New Zealand, this volume talks extensively about the contributions of visiting Italian expert Romeo Bragato and includes the endeavours of pioneers Italian winemakers, from the failures of G.A. Federli to the Capri Vineyards in Gisborne of Antonio Zame (who features on the cover of Pioneers of New Zealand wine).

In the 2002 article on the NZ Herald about Pioneers of New Zealand Wine Joelle Thomson writes:

"When author Dick Scott knew a visit to Gisborne winemaker Antonio Zame was on the agenda, he timed the trip as early as possible in the morning so that he and photographer Marti Friedlander could avoid tasting many, or any, of Zame's wines. In their desire to give these less-than-exemplary wines the swerve, the author facilitated and the photographer captured one of the most stunning photographs of the New Zealand wine industry last century. It is such an evocative image, lit entirely by natural early-morning light, that it takes pride of place in Pioneers of New Zealand Wine: on the cover."

Another beautiful photo of Antonio Zame by Marti Friedlander can be found in Portrait of Antonio Zame owner of Capri Vineyard in Gisborne. Info about Zame can also be found in the book New Zealand Wine: The Land, The Vines, The People.
