The official website the Comites (Committees of the Italians Abroad) in New Zealand. 

Established in 1985, the ComItEs (Committees of Italians Abroad) are representative bodies of the Italian community, directly elected by other Italian residents in the Country and registered with [https://www.esteri.it/mae/it/servizi/italiani-all-estero/aire_0.html AIRE] (the register of Italian leaving overseas) and in each consular district where at least three thousand registered reside.
The ComItEs are made up of 12 members or 18 members, depending on whether they are elected in consular circumscriptions with a number of less than or above 100,000 Italian registered on the AIRE list.
The ComItEs are therefore elected bodies that represent the needs of Italian citizens residing abroad in relations with diplomatic-consular representations. They contribute to identifying the social, cultural and civil development needs of the Italian community; promote, in collaboration with the consular authority, with the regions and with the local autonomies, as well as with entities, associations and committees operating within the consular district, appropriate initiatives in matters relating to social and cultural life, with particular regard to participation young people, equal opportunities, social and educational assistance, professional training, the recreational sector, sport and leisure. The committees are also called to cooperate with the consular authority in the protection of the rights and interests of Italian citizens residing in the consular district.
ComItEs members remain in office for five years and do not receive remuneration for their activity.
In New Zealand, the first election of a ComItEs took place in 2015, when the Italian residents exceeded 3000 people.

Il sito ufficiale del ComItEs (Comitato degli Italiani all'Estero) istituito in Nuova Zelanda

Istituiti nel 1985, i ComItEs (Comitati degli Italiani all'Estero) sono organismi rappresentativi della collettività italiana, eletti direttamente dai connazionali residenti all'estero in ciascuna circoscrizione consolare ove risiedono almeno tremila connazionali iscritti nell’elenco [https://www.esteri.it/mae/it/servizi/italiani-all-estero/aire_0.html AIRE].
I ComItEs sono composti da 12 membri o da 18 membri, a seconda che vengano eletti in Circoscrizioni consolari con un numero inferiore o superiore a 100 mila connazionali residenti iscritti nell'elenco AIRE.
I ComItEs sono organi elettivi che rappresentano le esigenze dei cittadini italiani residenti all'estero nei rapporti con le rappresentanze diplomatico-consolari. Essi contribuiscono ad individuare le esigenze di sviluppo sociale, culturale e civile della comunità italiana; promuovono, in collaborazione con l'autorità consolare, con le regioni e con le autonomie locali, nonché con enti, associazioni e comitati  operanti nell'ambito della circoscrizione consolare, opportune iniziative nelle materie attinenti alla  vita sociale e culturale, con particolare riguardo alla partecipazione dei giovani, alle pari   opportunità, all'assistenza sociale e scolastica, alla formazione professionale, al settore ricreativo, allo sport e al tempo libero. I Comitati sono altresì chiamati a cooperare con l'Autorità consolare nella tutela dei diritti e degli interessi dei cittadini italiani residenti nella circoscrizione consolare.
I membri dei ComItEs restano in carica cinque anni e non percepiscono remunerazione per la loro attività.
In Nuova Zelanda le prime votazioni per eleggere un ComItEs si sono svolte nel 2015, quando gli Italiani residenti hanno superato le 3000 persone.
